Bear Valley

Started off the new year with a trip to Bear Valley, California where my grandma lives. It was nice to get out of the city and have a relaxing weekend after all of the holiday festivities. To grandmothers house we went, up through the hills. We drank wine, watched movies, and finally helped grams start the cook book all of the grandkids have been begging her for!

Food+Coffee=PDX

Wether it’s a Reggie Deluxe biscuit breakfast sandwich or caramelized onion cheese burger on a brioche bun, Portland’s food scene is nothing short of delicious. I ate my way up and down Alberta Street that weekend. Every place we went to I was pretty blown away with how great everything tasted. But let’s be clear- they definitely have nothing on a mission SF burrito! Portland is known for their hip and unique coffee shops. Even though I’m not much of a coffee drinker, I still wanted to see what they were all about, so I indulged a little. Since Portlandia is basically the mecca of coffee land, I was only able to check out a couple spots over the course of 4 days. Not bad, not bad. Absolutely not bad. – Love, the Tea Drinker, Marz.

Hello Portland, I Love You

Finally reunited with my love, Portland, Oregon. During my first visit there last year, I instantly fell in love. Reminds me a lot of San Francisco but with mellower vibes. The art, music, and food scene are awesome. The people are chill and the thrift store situation is out of control! Swoon. Going into this weekend, I knew what was in store weather-wise. Freezing. Layers upon layers. I couldn’t wait to bundle up since SF hasn’t really started it’s fall weather yet. My sister and I stayed with a close friend who took us to all of the best restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques in his neighborhood, The Alberta Arts District. An ideal location for a chiller. Sunday we went to a private show at Wonder Ballroom hosted by Ninkasi Brewery to release their seasonal brew, “Sleigh’r”. My friend, Forest and his band, Rare Monk headlined the show. Needless to say, they sounded awesome. Beautiful music.
